HYGIENE AND AFTER-CARE TIPS

How piercing is done:
A piercing is created by passing a hollow needle through whatever part of your body that you choose. Once the puncture has been created, a standard quality bar is inserted into the hole. The healing process takes around six weeks to three months to heal. Only a cartilage piercing may have a longer healing time than this. During this time the body heals by forming a layer of cells called epithelial cells along the inside of the piercing. Once healed you are able to freely experiment with different kinds of jewelry.

At Primal Piercing and Tattoo we believe hygiene is paramount. All equipment that is used in the piercing process is sterilized to avoid any chance of infection. When piercing we use needles instead of guns. This is because guns are more difficult to sterilize, force the skin or cartilage apart which can crush or shatter the cartilage that is pierced and leaves the bar hard against this cartilage which means there’s no room for the skin to form through the hole.

If you have any questions or concerns we are more than happy to help you out with some expert advice. Of course once your piercing has been done we will be sure to talk you through the best way to care for your new body adornment.
